Washtenaw County Democratic Party

Making the difference in local, state and national elections.

Volunteer to make a difference in the lives of our children!

As part of the Blue Tiger civic engagement movement, the Washtenaw Dems are engaged in an educational collaboration with the Ypsilanti Public School System. This Fall and Winter we will be collaborating with Adams Academy, an elementary school in Ypsilanti which has an 89.7% poverty rate.
We are looking for volunteers to help our children one-on-one with reading, writing, math, and study skills.

  • We are looking for volunteers to help during the time periods from 9 to 10:30 a.m., 1 to 2:30 p.m., and after school from 3:45 to 5. We may also do an evening program based on the number of available volunteers. Give the time you can.
  • We are also looking for volunteers who have specialized interests or talents such as chess, robotics, computers, etc. and would be willing to run a club once a week in the after school time slot.
  • Some training will be provided, and a no-cost background check is required for the children's protection.

Together we can make a difference in these children's lives.  If you can help or have questions, please contact Kathy Wyatt, Vice Chair for Outreach and Membership at Katherineawyatt@aol.com or 734-572-3252.

DEMOCRATS CARE. LET’S SHOW OUR COMMUNITY THAT WE DO!
